AHonu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle) on Ball Vase - One View
After the sea turtles were painted and fired on this vase, masking fluid was applied over the sea turtle shapes. Then a combination of luster colors in blue and green hues were dribbled over the vase and caused to run by dripping dispersing fluid into the wet and partially drying luster. I held the vase, sideways, by putting my hand inside the vase, so that the luster colors would run around the vase horizontally, to create the appearance of water. After firing the vase again, for the background application, the turtle details were outlined with Liquid Bright Gold, using a pen. The vase was then fired a final time.
